President Robert Mugabe resigns


President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe have resigned, ending 37 years ruling the South Eastern African nation.

His resignation was announced by Zimbabwean Parliamentary speaker, Jacob Mudenda, who informed lawmakers of it in a letter written to them by the 93-year-old former president.

"I Robert Gabriel Mugabe in terms of section 96 of the constitution of Zimbabwe hereby formally tender my resignation… with immediate effect,” said speaker Mudenda, reading the letter.
